It all started with with a backpacking trip in 1975 near Killington in Gifford Woods - we were hooked - so after raising a family and watching all of our kids move to Vermont, we decided to follow them to the Green Mountain State.

It took some time, but we finally found the perfect place to live and work. Dreamhouse is the special place we chose to provide friends we haven’t met yet with a truly enjoyable place to kick back and relax.  We are bakers, culinary enthusiasts and avid supporters of the arts and the environment. Finding this home was a dream come true for us.  Can we help you fulfill one of your dreams?   

 

General Info

Cooking classes at DreamHouse focus on encouraging every-day chefs to step out of their comfort zone and try different foods, all while learning how to master new techniques in the kitchen in a judgment-free environment. Classes will focus on using local, seasonal ingredients to create a delicious and nutritious meal that easily can be replicated at home. Participants will leave classes with the recipes in hand and the ability to prepare the dishes on their own. 
 
Most classes are taught by Audrey Roberts. Audrey is a graduate of the University of Vermont, majoring in Family and Consumer Sciences Education with a minor in Nutrition. She enjoys sharing her enthusiasm for wholesome local foods with others and promoting healthy lifestyle choices.
 
Unless otherwise noted, classes will last 2-2 ½ hours which includes sharing and enjoying your creation with the class. To sign up for desired class, emailaudrey@maplerockbandb.com or call 315-212-4155. 

 

Small plates are great for entertaining at home. Most of these dishes can be prepared quickly and they all are really yummy! In this class you'll choose  5-6 plates from our menu. The class includes the cost of food, instruction, and copies of all recipes.

 

  1. Bruschetta duo (rosemary white bean & kalamata olive tapenade)

  2. Avocado, arugula salad with shaved Parmesan & citrus vinaigrette

  3. Butternut squash & black bean quesadillas

  4. Spinach salad with sliced apple, dried cranberries, bacon & apple cider-mustard vinaigrette

  5. Smoky black bean & corn salsa with tortilla chips

  6. Brie, apricot & pistachio phyllo tarts

  7. Polenta stacks with mozzarella, basil & marinara

  8. Spinach stuffed mushrooms

  9. Theobald Farms beef meatballs with chunky tomato & kalamata olive sauce

  10. Rice balls with smoked salmon or avocado

  11. Flatbread with garlic hummus, spinach, sundried tomato & pesto

  12. Pear, apple-sausage & swiss cheese skewers with signature dipping sauce

  13. Flatbread with sliced apples, bacon & bleu cheese-maple drizzle

  14. Honey toffee marscapone dip with assorted cookies

  15. Brownie trifles with toasted pecans, brownie chunks & salted caramel sauce

Pasta is Our Specialty!

Dust off that pasta maker you received as a wedding gift (we won't talk about how many years ago), and learn just how easy it is to make silky smooth homemade pasta! The class includes the cost of food, instruction, and copies of all recipes.

  • Appetizer: Parmesan crisps

  • Main Course: Homemade pasta (spaghetti or fettuccini)

    • Choice of 2 sauces:

      • 1. Oven roasted tomato sauce with salami, olives Parmesan cheese

      • 2. Carbonara (milk base sauce with ham, bacon & Parmesan cheese)

      • 3. Fresh marinara with garlic & herbs             

  • Spinach salad with sliced apple, walnuts and apple-mustard vinaigrette

  • Dessert: Choice of honey toffee mascarpone dip with assorted cookies or cannoli cones

Date Night or Any Night Out

Try something new for date night instead of your typical dinner and a movie. $45 per person which includes the cost of food, instruction, and copies of all recipes.

  • Appetizer: Flatbread with caramelized onion, rosemary & bleu cheese

  • Main: Pork Saltimbocca

  • Side: Orzo pasta and spinach salad

  • Dessert: Mini baklava tarts
